BW300C BRACKISH - GOLD MINE

At a large gold mine in the Northern Territory reverse osmosis is required for reliable supply of potable water for the 1000 man camp, gold processing and cooling tower water for its underground operations. This 300kL/day brackish system was installed in January 2011 and has been operating continuously since then. The feed water is very high in silica, a difficult foulant for any RO system. Since the underground temperatures can reach well above 50°C the surface air is cooled before being delivered to the miners below. If there is a failure in the water treatment system on the surface the underground operations must be evacuated. Reliability of the RO plants at this mine is of utmost importance.
